The Marshes of Skidaway Island is a 58-acre continuing care retirement community nestled in the peaceful privacy of Skidaway Island, located just six miles southeast of beautiful historic Savannah, Georgia. A continuing care retirement community (CCRC) provides a full array of residential living services and health care options for seniors. The beauty of a CCRC is that it allows retirees to enjoy fully independent living with country-club type amenities in a comfortable community setting. In-home health care, assisted living, memory care support, and skilled nursing are available if needed.Close Answer

Life Care Services, LLC is the official operator/manager of The Marshes of Skidaway Island. Today more than 30,000 people live in over 100 communities managed by Life Care Services. The company, which was established in 1971, has spent decades creating living experiences that enhance the lives of seniors. The Marshes of Skidaway Island offers three home styles to choose from:
- Apartment Villas
Our cottages and duplexes are elegant one and two bedroom homes ranging from 1,338 to over 2,500 square feet. Living areas are all on one level, and each includes a private garage. The exterior designs range from traditional to classic.
Our apartment villas are beautifully appointed residences in two four-story buildings adjoining The Island Club. A variety of floor plans ranging from 819 to over 2,000 square feet are available. The buildings feature covered parking on the first level, convenient elevators and additional storage for each residence.Close Answer
The Marshes of Skidaway Island boasts an elegant clubhouse, The Island Club, which features three dining rooms, the Bistro for casual dining, a well-stocked library, a computer center, a spacious ballroom, internet cafe, private dining room, card and game rooms, and the popular Island Club Lounge with a veranda overlooking the marsh.
The Palmetto Club includes an indoor heated pool, Jacuzzi, a well-equipped exercise area, a wood working shop, a pottery room and a greenhouse.
The campus has several large, beautiful park areas offering plenty of walking trails and space for a variety of outdoor recreational activities.
All interior and exterior maintenance of the residences are included in the monthly fees.
Additional services are available on an "à la carte" basis and include guest meals and catering, handyman and repair services, personal transportation and personal laundry services.Close Answer
A full-time Director of Community Life Services is on staff to plan events for the enjoyment of our residents. Community activities often include: shopping, trips, tours, theatrical events, educational programs, art classes, fitness classes, bridge tournaments, dinners, dances, day trips, overnight excursions, concerts, cocktail parties and much more.Close Answer

The Oaks Health Center includes spacious residences for comprehensive assisted living, memory care and Medicare-certified skilled nursing care. Residents have access to our skilled therapy team that provides physical, occupational, speech and aqua therapy right on our campus. Therapy services are available to all residents in the comfort of their own home, or they may choose to receive these services in our fully-equipped gym. In addition, Home Health Care services are available to residents in order to provide up to 24-hour care in the comfort of your very own home. Wellness and fitness programs, medical screenings, and other health-related services are also included at The Marshes of Skidaway Island.
Your monthly fee provides for 90 days of care at The Oaks Health Center, in which you are not responsible for paying the daily rate. The daily rate covers skilled nursing needs, quality nursing care services and other on-site medical care. Following the 90 days you are responsible for covering the daily rate.Close Answer
Residents pay a one-time 90% refundable entrance fee that entitles them to the exclusive right to live in the residence. This fee also provides them with complete access to all of the amenities and services offered at The Marshes of Skidaway Island, including The Oaks Health Center.
The entrance fee does not deliver title to the residence. If the resident leaves for any reason, 90% of the original entrance fee paid will be refunded to his or her estate.Close Answer
Yes. The monthly fee covers all of the amenities and services listed above, as well as the dining allowance per person, insurance and all in-home utilities except phone, internet and premium cable packages.Close Answer
In addition to having the income and resources to meet the financial requirements, you or your spouse must be at least 62 years of age and be capable of living independently. Residents must also meet the medical qualifications set forth in the residency agreement, which includes a medical examination.Close Answer
