What is The Marshes of Skidaway Island?The Marshes of Skidaway Island is a 58-acre continuing care retirement community nestled in the peaceful privacy of Skidaway Island, six miles southeast of beautiful, historic Savannah. The community features individual Cottages, Duplexes, Apartment Villas, exclusive amenities and an on-site health center, The Oaks, offering assisted living, comprehensive care and 24-hour skilled nursing. What exactly is a continuing care retirement community (CCRC)?A CCRC provides a full array of residential living, services and health care options. The beauty of a CCRC is having fully independent living and country-club type amenities. In-home health care, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing care are available at The Oaks if needed. Why is The Marshes of Skidaway Island unique?

How do I know the operations and service levels will be top-rate?Life Care Services LLC (LCS) is the operator/manager of The Marshes of Skidaway Island. LCS operates more than 80 similar communities around the U.S. and has been in the senior living industry for nearly four decades. Their standards and procedures have been developed based on this vast experience and meet or exceed all of the standards of the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission and the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). What types of homes are available?The Marshes of Skidaway Island offers three home styles:
Cottages and Duplexes are elegant one- and two-bedroom homes ranging from 1,500 to 2,500 sq. ft. Living areas are all on one level and each include a private garage. The exterior designs range from traditional to classic. Apartment Villas are beautifully appointed residences in two four-story buildings adjoining The Island Club. A variety of floor plans ranging from 820 to more than 2,000 sq. ft. are available. The buildings feature covered parking on the first level, convenient elevators and additional storage for each residence. What about health care?The Oaks Health Center includes separate residences for assisted living, comprehensive care and Medicare certified skilled nursing care. In addition, there is a home health agency based at The Oaks to provide the option of care in your home if that is your preference. Also included at The Marshes of Skidaway Island are regular wellness and fitness programs, medical screenings and other health-related services. Your monthly service fee provides 90 days of care in The Oaks per person. Following the 90 days, the fee will be increased. Is there an initial fee to move into The Marshes of Skidaway Island?Residents pay a one-time 90% refundable entrance fee that entitles them to the exclusive right to live in the residence and provides them access to, and complete use of, all of the amenities and services of The Marshes of Skidaway Island, including The Oaks Health Center. The entrance fee does not deliver title to the residence. If the resident leaves for any reason, 90% of the original entrance fee paid will be refunded to the resident or his or her estate. Is there a monthly fee?Yes, the monthly service fee covers all of the amenities and services listed above as well as property taxes and insurance, dining allowance, security and fire protection, housekeeping, interior and exterior maintenance and repairs, landscaping, cable television and Internet, fitness center membership, social events and club membership, plus all utilities including electricity, gas, water, sewer and trash pick-up. Telephone and premium satellite packages are the responsibility of the resident. How do I qualify for residency at The Marshes of Skidaway Island?In addition to having the income and resources to meet the financial requirements, you or your spouse must be at least 62 years old and be capable of living independently. The only exception is that one spouse may move initially into an independent living home and the other directly into assisted living or skilled nursing if necessary.
